Universal Beijing Resort, or UBR, is the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world and the third in Asia. It is also one of the largest Universal theme parks ever built, with a few special things that make it feel different from any other Universal park. The biggest highlight is Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, a one-of-a-kind land that exists only here at Universal Beijing Resort. Inspired by the beloved Kung Fu Panda films, this is where we can step into Po’s world, train our inner Dragon Warrior, and wander through the Jade Palace like we have been pulled straight into the movie. Another must-visit area, especially for first-timers, is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, where Hogsmeade Village, The Hogwarts Express, and Hogwarts Castle are recreated in such immersive detail that any Harry Potter fan will probably feel their heart melt a little the moment they walk in.
And for anyone who loves roller coasters and full-on adrenaline, UBR also has Decepticoaster, a high-speed coaster in the Transformers Metrobase area that is easily one of the most intense rides in the park. Everything I just mentioned is only a small teaser, because in this review, I’ll take you through Universal Beijing Resort properly, from the rides and themed lands to practical tips, transport, and even the hotel inside the resort. By the end of this guide, you should be able to plan your own visit with confidence, almost like I’m walking through the park with you.

Getting to Know Universal Beijing Resort
Universal Beijing Resort is located in Beijing, China. It is the fifth Universal Studios theme park in the world and the third in Asia. The project had actually been discussed between Universal Studios and Chinese developers since around 2001, but it was not officially approved by the Chinese government until 2014. Construction began in 2016, with an investment of around US$6.5 billion, under a design concept that blends Universal’s movie worlds with Chinese cultural influences.
Universal Beijing Resort took more than five years to build before officially opening on September 20, 2021. At the time, it became the largest Universal Studios theme park in the world, covering approximately 4 square kilometers (about 1,000 acres). Inside the theme park, there are seven main themed lands: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Transformers Metrobase, Hollywood, WaterWorld, Minion Land, Jurassic World Isla Nublar, and Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness. The last one is especially unique because it exists only at Universal Beijing Resort and is inspired by both Chinese culture and DreamWorks’ hugely popular Kung Fu Panda franchise.
Another major part of Universal Beijing Resort is Universal CityWalk Beijing, a large dining, shopping, and entertainment district located outside the theme park. It feels almost like a small city of its own, filled with restaurants, cafés, shops, and beautifully designed buildings that combine Chinese architectural touches with a more international resort atmosphere. There are plenty of places to sit down for a proper meal, from Chinese restaurants and hot pot to cafés and Universal-themed dining spots.
All of this has made Universal Beijing Resort one of China’s major entertainment destinations, attracting millions of visitors each year. And even though it is already one of the country’s most popular theme parks, the resort continues to develop new spaces, attractions, and experiences for visitors. In that sense, UBR has become not just a theme park, but one of Beijing’s biggest modern entertainment landmarks.
Where Should You Buy Universal Studios Beijing Tickets, and What Ticket Types Are Available?
If you’re planning to visit Universal Studios Beijing and wondering where to buy tickets, the first thing to know is that UBR offers several ticket options, including 1-day, 1.5-day, and 2-day tickets. The number of days refers to how long you can enter and enjoy the theme park.
There are several ways to buy UBR tickets, but I personally recommend booking through an OTA like Klook. This is the option I usually use when visiting theme parks around the world because it is convenient, easy to book through the website or app, and generally very straightforward. Buying tickets online also means you don’t have to worry about queueing at the ticket counter on the day itself or dealing with sold-out dates during busy periods.
Universal Studios Beijing Ticket Types
- 🎫 Universal Studios Beijing Admission Ticket [Book via Klook]
This is the standard park admission ticket that lets you access the attractions inside the park. You can choose from 1-day and 2-day options. For the 1.5-day ticket, you can enter the park after 2:00 PM on the first selected date, then return again during normal operating hours the next day. The 2-day ticket allows two park entries within a 7-day period. - ⚡️ Universal Studios Beijing Admission Ticket + Universal Express Pass [Book via Klook]
For anyone who wants to skip ride queues and cover as many attractions as possible, you can buy a combo ticket that includes park admission and a Universal Express Pass. There are usually several Express Pass options, including passes for 3 attractions, 5 attractions, and an unlimited-style option for participating attractions. Prices vary depending on date and pass type, but if you have the budget, this is one of the easiest ways to make your day much smoother.
Tips and Planning Guide for Getting the Most Out of Universal Beijing Resort
- Buy your ticket in advance through Klook so you don’t waste time queueing at the ticket counter on the day itself.
- If you want to cover as many rides as possible and have the budget, I really recommend getting an Express Pass. It can make a huge difference, especially on crowded days.
- Don’t forget to download the Universal Beijing Resort app. It is genuinely helpful once you’re inside the park.
- You can view the full park map and see where you are in real time, including wait times for each attraction.
- You can check ride locations, themed lands, and temporary closures.
- You can check showtimes for parades and live performances.
- Try to arrive as early as possible. If you can get there right when the park opens, even better. Popular rides usually have shorter queues in the morning, giving you more time to cover the park throughout the day.
- Once inside the park, head straight to the popular attractions first. If you want photos in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter with fewer people, this is also the area worth rushing to early in the day.
How to Get to Universal Beijing Resort
1. Subway (⭐️⭐️ Recommended): The subway is the easiest way to get to Universal Beijing Resort. The closest station to the park is Universal Resort Station, and you can travel there from wherever you are staying in Beijing.
Universal Resort Station: Take Beijing Subway Line 1 Batong Line or Line 7 and get off at Universal Resort Station. From there, use Exit A, B, or C and walk toward the resort entrance.
Must-Ride Attractions at Universal Beijing Resort
When it comes to must-ride attractions at Universal Beijing Resort, it really depends on your personal taste. But if I had to divide my favorites into categories, this table is a good starting point for deciding which rides to prioritize.
| Why You Shouldn’t Miss It | Must-Ride Attractions at Universal Beijing Resort |
| For roller coaster lovers who want thrills | – Decepticoaster |
| For immersive, experience-focused attractions | – Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ – Despicable Me Minion Mayhem – Jurassic World Adventure |
| Only available here, exclusively at Universal Beijing Resort | – Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior – Jurassic World Adventure |

Let’s Start Exploring Universal Beijing Resort
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™
For all the Muggles out there, the first area I recommend heading to right when the park opens is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™. This is where you get to step into the magical world of witches, wizards, and fantastic creatures through Hogsmeade Village, The Hogwarts Express, and the main highlight, Hogwarts Castle. The whole area is recreated so convincingly that it genuinely feels like walking into the Harry Potter films.
After passing through the pine trees and entering The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, the first thing you see is The Hogwarts Express parked at the station in Hogsmeade Village, with the village stretching toward Hogwarts Castle in the distance. In the story, Hogsmeade is the only all-wizarding village in Britain and completely free of Muggles. Here, it is recreated with tall wooden houses, snow-covered rooftops, magical shops, souvenir stores, and of course, Butterbeer stands, one of the most popular treats in the area.

If you want to add a bit more fun to the visit, I recommend buying an interactive wand first. You can use it to cast spells at different spots around the area and make objects move as if you’re doing real magic. The Universal Beijing Resort app also shows where the interactive spell locations are, so you can follow the map and collect them one by one.
Once you’ve had enough time wandering around Hogsmeade Village, there are two photo spots I think you shouldn’t miss. The first is the area facing Hogwarts Castle, where you can capture the castle with the forest around it. The spot is on the left before reaching the castle, near the water, and it gives you one of the best full-castle angles in the land. If you come dressed in a wizard robe, the photos look even better.

Another spot not to miss is the classic blue Ford Anglia from the Weasley family, stuck in the Forbidden Forest. This spot is just above the castle viewpoint. Look for the line of people waiting for photos, and you’ll find the blue car crashed into a tree with Hogwarts Castle in the background. Both of these are some of the most photogenic corners in the Harry Potter area.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ is truly a must-visit area for anyone who loves the films. Beyond the rides, the whole land is just fun to walk through, and almost every corner feels like a photo spot. It really does make you feel like you’ve become one of Harry’s friends for a moment.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™
The top attraction in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ is definitely Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™. If you don’t have Express Pass, the queue can get very long. Before boarding, you need to store your belongings in a locker, then walk through the castle interior while waiting. The queue itself is part of the experience, with moving portraits of Hogwarts figures, the Sorting Hat, Dumbledore’s office, and several scenes from the films. Even if the wait is long, there is plenty to look at along the way.
For Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™, you board a ride vehicle that feels almost like a magical broomstick, flying through the world of Hogwarts with highly immersive effects that do not require 3D glasses. Harry, Hermione, and Ron lead the adventure as you soar through magical scenes, from a Quidditch match above Hogwarts to close encounters with Dementors that sweep past you so realistically it feels like they are right above your head.
Overall, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ is absolutely one of the rides I recommend most at Universal Beijing Resort. The effects are impressive, the props are huge, and the whole experience is exciting from beginning to end. If you want to feel like you’re really inside Harry’s magical world, this ride is worth the queue.
Flight of the Hippogriff™
If you want something lighter and a nice view of Hogwarts Castle from another angle, queue for Flight of the Hippogriff™. This is a gentle family coaster inspired by the Hippogriff, the magical creature from the Harry Potter films with the head of an eagle and the body of a horse. The ride takes you gliding through the area around Hagrid’s hut and the Forbidden Forest, with small drops and turns that feel more scenic than scary.
For me, Flight of the Hippogriff™ is more suitable for kids than adults looking for big thrills. But if you’re not usually into intense rides and still want to try a small coaster, this one is an easy and friendly option. The track is short, the scary moments are brief, and it’s overall very manageable.
Nighttime Magic at Hogwarts™ Castle
Nighttime Magic at Hogwarts™ Castle is the closing show in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™. It usually runs every 15 minutes from sunset until park closing, but the exact schedule can vary by day, so it’s best to check the Universal Beijing Resort app. The show celebrates the four Hogwarts houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin, using their colors and symbols in a castle projection show that lasts around six minutes per round.
What makes the show beautiful is that the lights are not just simple spotlights. They move with the music, flowing across the base of the castle before climbing up the towers and rooftops. Combined with the sound and atmosphere, it feels genuinely magical, even though the show itself is quite short. It is a lovely way to end the day in the Harry Potter area.
Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness
One of the most special things about Universal Beijing Resort is Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness, a themed land that exists only here. Inspired by the Kung Fu Panda films from DreamWorks Animation, this area brings Po’s world to life through Chinese-inspired architecture, the Jade Palace, bamboo forests, the Valley of Peace, and the panda village. It is also worth noting that the original Kung Fu Panda film was created after its directors, John Stevenson and Mark Osborne, studied Chinese culture and met with Chinese orchestras before production, which makes this land feel even more fitting in Beijing.
Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness is an indoor land that recreates the Valley of Peace in a large, immersive space. You’ll see Po’s village, the Jade Palace with Chinese-style architecture, bamboo forests, the panda village, and the massive Peach Tree of Heavenly Wisdom at the center of the land. In the films, this tree represents wisdom and the spiritual guidance of Master Oogway, the ancient Galapagos tortoise master. Here, you can experience it up close as one of the area’s visual highlights.

Another key spot in this land is Mr. Ping’s Noodle House, designed like a traditional Chinese inn. Inside, you’ll find noodles and Chinese dishes served in a space filled with Chinese-style details, paintings, wooden furniture, and roof structures that feel pulled from the movie. The main ride here is Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior, a boat ride where we join Po and his friends on an adventure. There are also smaller attractions for kids, so fans of Po and the Kung Fu Panda films can easily spend quite a bit of time in this area.

Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior
The must-ride attraction in Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness is Kung Fu Panda Journey of the Dragon Warrior. This is a slow boat ride through beautifully designed scenes, combining 3D projection and animatronics to make Po and his friends feel alive. It’s the kind of ride where you can sit back and enjoy the world of Kung Fu Panda up close.
The story begins when Po travels to the Jade Palace to train under Master Shifu as the next kung fu warrior. But, in classic Po fashion, he accidentally breaks what he thinks is an ordinary cookie jar. Unfortunately, it turns out to be the urn containing the ashes of Kai, the ruthless spirit warrior. Once Kai is released, he sets out to destroy the Valley of Peace, and Po and his friends must work together to bring him back and save the world of kung fu.
The boat moves slowly along a gentle river, passing lush greenery, tall bamboo forests, mysterious mountains, and village scenes filled with Kung Fu Panda characters. The mood starts calm, then suddenly the villains appear and Po jumps into action. Along the way, familiar characters wave and smile as the story unfolds. Eventually, we defeat Kai and save the Valley of Peace. It’s a charming, family-friendly ride that works especially well for anyone who loves Kung Fu Panda or is visiting with kids.
Transformers Metrobase
Another major and very popular area at Universal Beijing Resort is Transformers Metrobase. Fans of the Transformers films will love this land, where the world of Autobots and Decepticons is recreated in a futuristic sci-fi setting. The story here is that the Autobots have set up a base in Beijing, with Metrobase serving as a massive command center to defend the area against the Decepticons.

The main highlight here is Decepticoaster, a high-speed roller coaster themed around the Decepticons and an intense chase in the Transformers universe. Another must-ride is Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark, a 3D motion-simulator ride that puts us in the middle of a battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. The area also features character meet-and-greets with Transformers characters, making it a must-visit for fans of Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and Megatron.
Decepticoaster
If you love serious thrills and intense roller coasters, Decepticoaster is the one to go for. Inspired by the Decepticons from the Transformers universe, this ride is designed around a fast and aggressive chase between the Autobots and Decepticons, and it definitely delivers on the adrenaline.
Before riding Decepticoaster, you have to store all your belongings, because this coaster is known for high-speed launches, loops, and inversions. The queue area is designed like a Decepticon headquarters, with dark corridors and futuristic light details. Once you board the train, the ride launches almost instantly at high speed before shooting out into the outdoor section. There is barely time to breathe before the coaster twists, flips, drops from a height of more than 55 meters, and races along the track so fast that people watching from below can hardly follow it.
The ride itself is quite short, but it is intense from start to finish. Personally, I love thrill rides, so I made it through just fine, although there was definitely a lot of screaming involved. If I had to rank the scariest rides at Universal Beijing Resort, Decepticoaster would easily take the top spot. If you’re afraid of heights or not comfortable with intense coasters, this may not be for you. But if you want to challenge yourself at least once, this is the ride that lets you proudly say you conquered Decepticoaster.
Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark
Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark is one of the major attractions in Transformers Metrobase. This is a 3D motion-simulator ride where we wear 3D glasses and board a vehicle called Autobot Evac, joining the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons. Our mission is to help protect the AllSpark, the powerful object that can create new Transformers, and keep it away from the Decepticons.
The battle begins in the middle of a city under attack. Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, and other Autobots join forces to fight the Decepticons while we are tasked with carrying the AllSpark to a safe location. The fun comes from the way the ride vehicle moves with the high-resolution 3D screens, dodging attacks, explosions, and collapsing buildings. One of my favorite moments is flying alongside Optimus Prime and escaping Starscream’s attack. The whole thing feels so immersive that you start reacting as if you’re really in the middle of the battlefield. In the end, Bumblebee helps us bring the AllSpark to safety, and the Transformers universe is saved. It is one of those simulator rides that may look simple on paper, but is genuinely so much fun once you’re inside.
Minion Land
Minion Land is a colorful world inspired by the yellow Minions from the Despicable Me and Minions films. Here, you’ll find Gru’s neighborhood, the homes of Margo, Agnes, and Edith, and plenty of bright, playful props all around the area. Minion Land at Universal Beijing Resort feels especially large and polished, making it one of the cutest and most family-friendly areas in the park.
Inside Minion Land, the area recreates the community where Gru and the Minions live, with houses, shops, factory-style buildings, and plenty of life-size Minion figures placed throughout the land. Some Minions stand on front lawns, some are perched on rooftops or fences, and others are hidden around the area waiting to be spotted. It’s very photogenic and easy to walk around.

The most popular ride in this area is Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, a 3D attraction that takes us into Gru’s house and turns us into Minions. For families with kids, there are also indoor family attractions, gentle coasters, and game booths. And for anyone who loves Minion merchandise, the shops here are packed with Minion-themed clothing, bags, accessories, home goods, and souvenirs.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is one of the rides I recommend adding to your checklist. Based on Despicable Me, this 3D ride takes us into the Minion world, joining Gru, Margo, Agnes, Edith, and the mischievous Minions on a mission to turn us into Minions.
The ride itself is easy to understand. First, we put on 3D glasses, then enter a large theater-like room and board a ride vehicle. The huge screen in front shows Gru taking us through his house and into the laboratory, where the Minion transformation process begins. Chaos quickly breaks out when Gru’s three daughters arrive with a gift box for him, accidentally dropping it into a factory full of machines. From there, we have to help save the box from being destroyed while bouncing through a series of moving machinery and wild obstacles.
The fun of Despicable Me Minion Mayhem comes from the way the vehicle moves with the scenes on screen. When the story drops from a height or slides along a conveyor belt, the vehicle shakes, bounces, and tilts along with the visuals. The constant scene changes make the whole experience lively and fun. In the end, we manage to save the box, and the girls successfully give it to Gru. Overall, this is an easy-to-enjoy ride, especially if you have watched the movies or played the Minion games before.
Jurassic World Isla Nublar
Jurassic Park fans should head straight to Jurassic World Isla Nublar. This area takes us into the world of dinosaurs more than 65 million years old, surrounded by lush tropical forest and scenery that makes you feel like you have arrived on Isla Nublar, the island from the Jurassic Park films. The attractions here are inspired by the films, including Jurassic Flyers, which lets you fly above the treetops, and Jurassic World Adventure, where you ride into Isla Nublar and come face to face with some incredibly realistic dinosaurs.
The area also has Jurassic Park-themed restaurants and shops selling toys, clothing, and dinosaur-themed collectibles. If you are a fan of the franchise, this is definitely a good place to shop for souvenirs.
Jurassic World Adventure
Jurassic World Adventure is one of the rides I most recommend in Jurassic World Isla Nublar. Inspired by the Jurassic Park films, this attraction combines scenes from Isla Nublar with advanced ride technology, putting us in the middle of a dinosaur escape disaster. Our mission is simple: survive and get out.
The ride places us in a specially designed exploration vehicle that travels through the island. We move through dense jungle before the action begins with a face-to-face encounter with the Indominus Rex. From there, the dinosaur starts chasing and attacking our vehicle, while the car speeds away with enough motion to make everyone scream. Along the route, we pass scenes inspired by the Jurassic Park films, including Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptors, Blue, and other dinosaurs brought to life with impressive animatronics and screen effects.
The scenes keep changing until we reach the island’s iconic visitor center, now damaged and chaotic after the dinosaur escape. The climax is the most exciting part, with two dinosaurs fighting right in front of us. The tail swings, roars, lighting, sound, and movement all come together so dramatically that it feels like being inside the movie. One dinosaur eventually loses and collapses right near the vehicle, close enough to make the whole thing feel shockingly real. It’s exciting from start to finish and easily one of the best attractions for anyone who loves dinosaurs or the Jurassic Park films.
Jurassic Flyers
Jurassic Flyers is an aerial ride for anyone who wants to see Isla Nublar from above. Inspired by pterosaurs, the ancient flying reptiles with massive wings, this ride lets us glide above the lush jungle and dinosaur enclosures at a moderate speed while taking in the Jurassic World atmosphere from a higher angle.
On Jurassic Flyers, you sit in a suspended ride vehicle attached to an overhead track. The movement feels free and light, almost like flying. Because the speed is not too intense, the ride gives you a panoramic view of Universal Beijing Resort and Jurassic World Isla Nublar without feeling too scary. I think it works well for many ages, especially for people who want a little excitement but not a full-on thrill ride.
WaterWorld
WaterWorld is a themed area that action-movie fans will probably enjoy. It is inspired by the 1995 film Waterworld, which imagines a future where most of the Earth is covered in water and dry land is almost impossible to find. People live on floating settlements, fighting over resources, freshwater, and survival.
If you have seen the film before, the area feels very faithful to that world. Everything is surrounded by water, with floating structures, rusty metal platforms, elevated rooms, boats, and survival equipment all around. The main attraction here is the WaterWorld Stunt Show, one of Universal’s most famous live-action shows, featuring stunts, explosions, water effects, and action scenes performed right in front of the audience.
WaterWorld Stunt Show
One show I really recommend watching is WaterWorld Stunt Show. If you love action movies and want to see realistic stunt scenes up close, with water splashing, fire blazing, and even an aircraft crashing into the set, this show absolutely goes big. Based on the 1995 film Waterworld, the show adapts the story into a live stunt performance about people searching for Dryland, the last legendary place with habitable land, while defending their floating settlement from villains known as Smokers.
WaterWorld Stunt Show runs at scheduled times throughout the day, so check the show schedule carefully to make sure you don’t miss it. The seating is divided into color zones based on how wet you want to get. The green zone is closest to the stage and gets the wettest. The blue zone is in the middle and may get splashed. The orange zone is farther back and generally safer if you want to stay dry.
Once the show begins, we see daily life in a floating settlement full of rusty structures and survival gear. Then the villains attack, and the action starts immediately. There are fire effects, explosions, stunt fights, water chases, and even a small aircraft crashing into the set. The whole show is so energetic that the audience keeps reacting and clapping throughout. For me, this was one of the most impressive shows at Universal Beijing Resort because it highlights both the skill of the stunt performers and the scale of the production. It’s the kind of show where you don’t want to look away, even for a second.
Hollywood
The Hollywood area recreates the energy of Los Angeles’ Hollywood streets in the 1930s, with palm trees, elegant buildings, shops, theaters, studios, and Art Deco-inspired details that reflect the golden age of cinema. This is also where you’ll find two shows I recommend: Lights Camera Action!, created in collaboration with Steven Spielberg and Zhang Yimou, which takes guests behind the scenes of Hollywood-style movie effects, and Untrainable, a How to Train Your Dragon-inspired show where Toothless appears and flies above the theater. There are also souvenir shops throughout the area, so it’s another easy place to spend money before leaving the park.

Lights Camera Action!
Have you ever wondered how blockbuster films create special effects or how much work goes into one major movie scene? Lights Camera Action! is the show that answers that question. It takes guests behind the scenes of movie magic through a presentation by two legendary filmmakers: Steven Spielberg and Chinese director Zhang Yimou.
The show begins in a room with video screens where Steven Spielberg and Zhang Yimou introduce the idea of movie effects. After that, we move into another room filled with props and a large set that feels like the upper floor of a building during a storm. Then the effects begin. A small boat floats out, rain pours down, windows are blown away, and suddenly flames burst up right in front of the audience. I happened to be standing near the front, and the heat felt so real that I instinctively stepped back. Then, just as quickly, heavy rain pours down again.
The highlight for me was near the end, when a massive boat almost as tall as the room floats in from the right side, appearing only a few meters away. It was surprising, dramatic, and genuinely impressive. With the sound, lighting, wind, rain, and fire effects, it really feels like standing inside a movie scene. Anyone who loves filmmaking or behind-the-scenes production would probably enjoy this show a lot.
Untrainable
The final show I watched was Untrainable, inspired by the How to Train Your Dragon films. This performance takes us into the world of Berk, where Hiccup, Toothless, and other dragons appear in a warm and playful story filled with flying effects, acrobatics, and emotional moments between humans and dragons.
The show opens in the Viking village of Berk, where dragon riders and their dragon friends live together peacefully. The story focuses on Hiccup and Toothless, whose bond remains the emotional heart of the show. Things become chaotic when Toothless tries to learn new skills but keeps failing in the cutest way, creating funny moments that easily get the whole theater laughing.
There are also battle scenes between Vikings and dangerous dragons, including aerial acrobatics and stunt choreography that interact with the dragon effects. Some scenes have dragons standing close to the audience and breathing fire, which adds a lot of excitement. My favorite part was when Toothless and Hiccup flew above the stage, making it feel like Toothless was really soaring through the sky. Untrainable is not just a cute dragon show; it also captures the warmth and bond between people and dragons in a way that feels surprisingly touching.
The Universal Studios Grand Hotel
If you’re visiting Universal Beijing Resort and want to fully enjoy your time at the park while staying close to the entrance, The Universal Studios Grand Hotel is a very convenient and memorable option. The hotel is located right by the entrance to Universal Beijing Resort and is inspired by the elegance of Hollywood’s golden age in the 1920s and 1930s, with Art Deco architecture and film-inspired interior details.
Book a Stay at The Universal Studios Grand Hotel
Booking The Universal Studios Grand Hotel directly can feel a little confusing, especially through the official Universal Beijing Resort website. Personally, I think it’s much easier to book through agencies like Klook or Trip. Both platforms let you choose different room types, from classic Golden Age of Hollywood-style rooms to Minions and Kung Fu Panda themed rooms. You can check the links below.
⚡️ Check details and book The Universal Studios Grand Hotel [via Klook] / [via Trip]
The atmosphere of The Universal Studios Grand Hotel begins right at the entrance, where a fountain stands in front of the hotel, surrounded by colorful rose beds. Inside, the lobby and public areas are decorated with classic furniture, elegant tones, movie posters, film-related artwork, and studio-inspired details. The whole place feels like stepping into Hollywood’s golden age, with a polished and cinematic mood throughout.

The hotel offers many room types, including themed rooms inspired by Minions and Kung Fu Panda. I stayed in a Deluxe Twin Room with a window and breakfast included. The 30-square-meter room came with two large, comfortable beds, a window with a small view toward the park and attractions, film posters decorating the corners, and cute welcome treats including cartoon-themed macarons and fresh fruit. The bathroom had separate wet and dry areas, with a sink area in the middle. In-room facilities included bathroom amenities, a mini fridge, air-conditioning, minibar, and free Wi-Fi.

One thing I really liked was breakfast. The hotel’s breakfast is served at The Lotus Garden, a large restaurant that works especially well for families. The food stations are placed in the center of the room, with a wide selection ranging from Chinese dishes and Western breakfast items to drinks and desserts. Since I visited during Halloween, Minion characters in Halloween costumes also came out for meet-and-greets during breakfast, which made the whole experience even cuter.

And if all that already sounds good, there are even more perks. Guests staying at The Universal Studios Grand Hotel get special benefits, including early morning character photo opportunities at breakfast, access to the store downstairs, and early park entry up to one hour before regular opening through the Universal Studios Beijing VIP Experience entrance. Since the hotel is right at the park entrance, staying here makes the whole trip extremely easy and comfortable.
Universal Beijing Resort Review Summary
My first visit to Universal Beijing Resort was honestly impressive. The park is huge, detailed, and immersive enough that walking from morning until closing can feel like a full expedition. Each land is built with a strong sense of scale and personality, from the one-of-a-kind Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness and the massive Minion Land to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™, which still feels magical every time. The shows are also excellent, especially WaterWorld Stunt Show, Lights Camera Action!, and Untrainable, all of which go big on performers, props, and effects. Staying at the resort hotel right by the entrance made the trip even more complete, especially with character greetings in the morning and early park entry. If you’re visiting Beijing and love theme parks, Universal Beijing Resort is absolutely worth adding to the itinerary.
