Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is the only Universal Studios theme park in Southeast Asia and one of the most popular theme parks for travelers visiting Singapore. For many people, this is practically a top-list stop on any Singapore itinerary. Even though USS is not as huge or grand in scale as some other Universal parks around the world, it has its own Singapore-only charm, from cute rides based on Sesame Street and Puss In Boots from Shrek to the newest highlight, Minion Land, which brings all the chaotic yellow Minion energy into one seriously fun area. If you love Universal Studios films, animation, and theme parks, this is absolutely one to keep on your list. In this updated 2026 review, I’ll take you through Universal Studios Singapore zone by zone, from the newest attractions to the classic must-rides, with enough detail to help you plan a full day inside the park properly.

Getting to Know Universal Studios Singapore (USS)

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is the first Universal Studios movie-and-animation theme park in Southeast Asia. It is located inside Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa Island, one of Singapore’s major entertainment and leisure destinations. Inside the park, you’ll find themed sets, immersive zones, and a solid mix of attractions based on popular films and characters. As of now, there are seven main zones open to visitors: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away, and the newly opened Illumination’s Minion Land. The eighth zone, Super Nintendo World, is also under construction and is one of the most anticipated additions for Nintendo fans.

🎫 Where Should You Buy Universal Studios Singapore (USS) Tickets?

If you ask me where to buy Universal Studios Singapore (USS) tickets in a way that is both convenient and usually well-priced, I’d recommend Klook. Besides the ticket options, Klook also lets you add on a Universal Express Pass if you want to skip regular queues for selected attractions. After booking, the ticket is sent as an e-Ticket, which you can save on your phone and scan directly at the USS entrance. It saves a lot of time compared with queueing to buy tickets at the gate, especially on busy days.

🎫 Universal Express Pass: Skip the Regular Queues

Universal Express Pass is basically a paid add-on that lets you enter selected attractions through a special Express Line instead of joining the regular queue. In other words, it is the classic theme park time-saver. Just remember that this is an add-on ticket. It is not a park admission ticket, so you still need a regular USS entry ticket first.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

There are two main types of Universal Express Pass

  1. Universal Express: This allows you to enter the Express Line once per participating attraction. The pass is date-specific, so it must be used on the date you selected. One thing to know is that this pass cannot be used for Canopy Flyer, Treasure Hunters, or for reserved front-row seating at shows.
  2. Universal Express Unlimited: This is the top-tier option for anyone who wants to repeat their favorite rides. It gives you unlimited Express Line access to participating attractions on the selected date. The same exclusions apply: it cannot be used for Canopy Flyer, Treasure Hunters, or reserved front-row show seating.

Current Express Pass prices use dynamic pricing, meaning they change depending on date and crowd level. I recommend checking the exact price for your travel date on Klook before booking.

Should You Buy a Universal Express Pass?

The biggest advantage is simple: you are buying time and convenience. Popular rides at Universal Studios Singapore can have pretty intense queues. For top attractions, the regular line can easily be 60–120 minutes. If you spend two hours waiting for one ride, the day disappears quickly. With a Universal Express Pass, you can usually enter through the Express Line and get on many attractions within roughly 10–15 minutes, saving hours throughout the day. That means more time for photos, food, shows, and exploring the park without feeling completely exhausted.

To make the decision easier, here’s my simple checklist for when you should and shouldn’t buy Express Pass:

✅ You should buy Express Pass if:

  • You are visiting on a weekend or public holiday: Saturdays, Sundays, long weekends, school holidays, and peak travel periods can get seriously crowded. Express Pass becomes a lifesaver.
  • You only have one day: If you want to cover the main highlights in a single day without spending most of it in queues, this pass makes a big difference.
  • You are here for the major rides: Especially if your plan is to ride both sides of Battlestar Galactica, Revenge of the Mummy, and the newest Minion Land attractions where queues can be heavy.

❌ You may not need it if:

  • You are visiting on a weekday: If you come Monday to Thursday and it is not a long holiday period, queues are usually more manageable.
  • You are more of a content/photo person: If your focus is taking photos, enjoying the atmosphere, trying snacks, watching shows, and riding a few attractions casually, you can skip it.
  • You are okay with Single Rider: If you are visiting alone, or if your group is fine sitting separately, some attractions have Single Rider lines that move much faster than the regular queue.

Must-Ride Attractions at Universal Studios Singapore

When it comes to must-ride attractions at Universal Studios Singapore (USS), honestly, if you have the time, I’d recommend trying everything. USS has a good mix of rides, from soft family-friendly attractions to proper thrill rides that can easily make adults scream. For the table below, I’ve selected the attractions that feel the most worth prioritizing for adults and first-time visitors. This 2026 update also includes new highlights from the latest Minion Land zone.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

Smart Tip: Save on Food with a Meal Voucher

Theme park food can be pricey, and USS is no exception. A simple way to save a little is to buy a Meal Voucher worth 10 or 25 Singapore dollars in advance through Klook.

The good thing is that you pay slightly less on Klook, but you still get the full voucher value to spend on food inside the park, whether that’s S$10 or S$25 depending on the option you buy. Since you’ll probably get hungry after walking and riding attractions all day, buying a Meal Voucher in advance is convenient, practical, and helps keep food spending a bit more controlled.

Let’s Start Exploring Universal Studios Singapore
Hollywood Zone

The first zone you’ll enter is Hollywood, designed to feel like you’re walking along the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. The buildings on both sides are themed around movies, animation, and classic Universal Studios characters, setting the tone beautifully from the moment you step inside.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review) Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

The highlight here is that characters often come out for Meet and Greet sessions throughout the day. You might spot Po from Kung Fu Panda, the adorable Trolls gang, Woody Woodpecker, or even classic Hollywood characters. This zone is also home to the large Universal Studios Store, where it is dangerously easy to start spending money right at the beginning of the trip. If you’re collecting merchandise from your favorite films or characters, this is the place to browse.

If you need food before tackling the rides, Hollywood also has Mel’s Drive-In, a classic American diner inspired by the 1950s. The menu includes burgers, fries, milkshakes, and plenty of retro photo spots around the storefront.

Illumination’s Minion Land

One of the newest highlights at Universal Studios Singapore, and the zone that instantly makes the whole park feel brighter, is Illumination’s Minion Land. Officially opened not long ago, it has quickly become one of the most photogenic and fun areas in USS. If you’re a fan of these chaotic yellow characters, this zone is going to make you very happy. It recreates scenes and locations inspired by the Despicable Me films in full Minion style, with sub-areas like Gru’s Neighbourhood, Super Silly Fun Land, and Minion Marketplace. Wherever you walk, Minions are everywhere.

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The main ride in this zone, and the one I recommend heading to first, is Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. This is a 3D motion simulator that takes you into Gru’s house, recreated so closely that it feels like you’ve stepped into the film, from the living room all the way down to the lab.

The story is that Gru is recruiting new Minions for his crew, and the lucky candidates happen to be all of us waiting in line. After walking through different rooms inside the house, we are taken down into the secret underground lab to prepare for the transformation process that will turn us into tiny Minions.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

That’s when the chaos begins. We board the simulator and go through a wild Minion training test filled with giant lasers, huge machines, slides, sudden obstacles, and plenty of Minion slapstick humor. The fun comes from the timing of the jokes, the movement of the seats, and the way the ride makes you feel like you’re launching, falling, and spinning through the scenes.

Along the way, Margo, Edith, and Agnes also appear with cute, heartwarming moments that give the ride that signature Despicable Me family feeling. So this is not just a funny simulator. It is also genuinely feel-good.

In terms of intensity, this is very family-friendly. It is not a roller-coaster-level thrill ride, but it is not completely still either. Adults can enjoy it, kids will probably laugh throughout the ride, and Minion fans will love the details. In short, Despicable Me Minion Mayhem brings together comedy, warmth, and immersion in a way that makes it one of the must-ride attractions at USS right now.

Refuel at Super Hungry Food Stand

After walking around, taking photos, and riding attractions in Minion Land, it’s time to refuel at the zone’s main restaurant, Super Hungry Food Stand.

This time, I tried three dishes that were almost too cute to eat. The first was Stuart’s Japanese Curry Karaage (S$19, around US$14), a Japanese curry rice dish served with large pieces of karaage fried chicken. The fun part is that the rice is shaped into Stuart’s face, which makes the whole plate instantly photogenic.

Next was Unlucky Ducky Creamy Chicken Stew (S$19, around US$14), which is probably the most camera-friendly dish of the set. The yellow rice is shaped into an adorable duck and served in creamy white chicken stew with vegetables. Finally, there was the more Singapore-inspired snack, Chili Crab Minion Mantous (S$12, around US$9), featuring two Minion-shaped mantou buns served with a rich chili crab-style sauce.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

If I’m being honest about the taste, overall it was fine and enjoyable, pretty much what you would expect from theme park food. But in terms of presentation, full marks. The Minion details are done very well, and if you’re someone who likes photographing food before eating, these dishes are made for that.

New York Zone

Right next to Minion Land is the New York zone, and this area does a really good job recreating the feeling of walking through a New York city block. You’ll see red-brick buildings, vintage storefront signs, fire escapes, small details like vegetable shops and pharmacies, and American-style cafés that make the whole street feel alive.

Personally, I think this is one of the most photogenic zones in Universal Studios Singapore. There are so many corners to shoot, whether you want a cool street-style photo or a casual city-walk mood. It’s one of those areas where you might end up taking more photos than expected.

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase ⭐️

The ride I recommend trying in the New York zone is Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase, a gentle dark ride where you board a spaceship-style vehicle and travel through a bright, colorful Sesame Street universe. What makes this ride special is that it is exclusive to Universal Studios Singapore.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

The story begins when Macaroni the Merciless, a playful villain, plans to steal all the spaghetti from Earth. The Sesame Street heroes have to stop him, and of course, we become part of the mission too. Along the way, you’ll pass through colorful fantasy scenes with familiar characters appearing throughout the ride.

In terms of intensity, this is extremely gentle and suitable for the whole family. The ride vehicle moves smoothly and slowly, with no sudden drops, sharp movements, or scary moments. It’s more about enjoying the cute atmosphere and resting your legs a little. If you are visiting with young kids, or if you simply love the Sesame Street characters, this is an easy and charming ride to add to your route.

Sci-Fi City

From New York, we move into the futuristic world of Sci-Fi City. This is one of the strongest zones at Universal Studios Singapore for anyone who loves action, adventure, and big thrills. The whole area is designed like a futuristic city filled with lights, technology, and metallic details, and it is home to two of the park’s biggest highlight attractions: TRANSFORMERS The Ride and the legendary dueling coaster Battlestar Galactica.

TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle ⭐️⭐️

The first attraction in this zone that I recommend heading to is TRANSFORMERS The Ride: The Ultimate 3D Battle, a legendary 3D motion simulator that drops you straight into a robot battlefield. A fun fact is that this ride debuted first in the world here in Singapore before becoming so popular that it was later built at other Universal parks.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

The story is that the NEST headquarters is under attack, and all of us waiting in line are new recruits called into action alongside Optimus Prime and the Autobots. Our mission is to protect the AllSpark from the Decepticons.

Once the ride begins, you put on 3D glasses, board the Evac vehicle, and rush into the middle of a chaotic city battle. You get thrown into action scenes where the vehicle twists, jolts, gets attacked, drops from skyscraper-like heights, and dodges explosions. The fun comes from the high-impact 3D visuals, wind, water, heat effects, and the motion of the vehicle, which together make it feel like you’re falling, flying, and being tossed through the battle.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

The intensity is exciting without being too scary. It is not a stomach-dropping roller coaster, but it delivers blockbuster-style action very well. Adults can enjoy the movement and effects, while kids will probably be wide-eyed the whole time. If you love action films or want to feel like you’re part of a world-saving mission, this is one of the must-rides at USS.

Go to top

Battlestar Galactica: Human & Cylon ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Next is one of the biggest highlights of Sci-Fi City and the ride that thrill seekers should not miss: Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON. This massive dueling roller coaster stands over 42 meters tall and delivers some of the most intense thrills in the park.

The concept comes from the sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, recreating a battle between humans and the alien-machine Cylons. The cool gimmick is that there are two tracks and two different ride styles launching at the same time, with the trains crossing and twisting past each other in the air. You get to choose which side you want to experience.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

If you want to warm up first, I recommend starting with Human, the red track. This is a seated coaster with a more traditional ride style. It launches, drops, and turns along the track without inversions, so it gives you plenty of thrill without going too extreme.

But if you want the more intense side, go for Cylon, the blue track. This is an inverted coaster where your legs hang freely, and it is much more aggressive. It twists, loops, corkscrews, and flips through the air in a way that feels properly wild. This is the one that gets people screaming for real.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

For me, this is the most thrilling roller coaster at Universal Studios Singapore. If you love coasters, you should try both tracks. Just know that this is one of the park’s top attractions, so the queues can be heavy. Waiting 60 minutes is normal, and during peak periods, I’ve seen the wait go beyond 160 minutes. If you don’t want to spend your day standing in line, this is exactly where Universal Express Pass becomes very useful.

Ancient Egypt Zone

Walking out of the futuristic world of Sci-Fi City, you suddenly feel like you’ve been transported into another era: Ancient Egypt. This zone is grand, dramatic, and atmospheric, recreating an ancient Egyptian land with impressive scale. The highlight is the huge Anubis statues standing guard in front of the pharaoh temple. If you like taking powerful travel photos, this is a great spot to pose from a low angle and make the whole scene feel massive.

Revenge of the Mummy ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The highlight attraction here is Revenge of the Mummy, a legendary high-speed indoor dark coaster that sends you deep into an ancient Egyptian tomb. The Singapore version also has its own story details and ride moments that feel different from the versions in the United States.

The story places us as a team of explorers entering the tomb in search of the Book of the Living to break the curse of Imhotep. The ride begins in darkness with a threatening message on the wall telling us to “Find the Book.” The tension builds as we encounter Evelyn calling for help, only for Imhotep to steal her soul right in front of us. Then his voice echoes through the tomb, warning that our souls will be trapped forever.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

Then the ride launches into full chaos. The coaster suddenly accelerates through the dark at high speed, reaching around 72 km/h in just a few seconds. Because everything happens in darkness, you cannot predict the direction. There are sudden turns, steep drops, a backward launch, armies of mummies, scarab beetles, and fire effects that you can actually feel as heat on your skin. It is intense, immersive, and genuinely exciting.

In terms of intensity, this one is properly thrilling. The mix of darkness, speed, sudden movement, and spooky tomb atmosphere makes your heart race. If you love roller coasters, Revenge of the Mummy is absolutely one of the must-rides at USS.

Treasure Hunters

After Revenge of the Mummy, if your soul needs a break, Treasure Hunters is a very gentle ride that lets you play the role of an explorer in a much calmer way.

The concept is simple. You board a classic vintage-style jeep that moves along a guided track through an abandoned ancient Egyptian landscape. Along the way, you’ll see ruins, Egyptian animal statues, simulated poisonous creatures, and hidden treasures scattered around the route.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

The intensity is extremely light. The vehicle moves slowly and smoothly with no sudden movement or thrilling moments, so it is ideal for families with young children. It can also work as a short seated break for adults. That said, this ride often has a surprisingly long and slow-moving queue, so if the line is already overflowing, I’d personally skip it and spend the time elsewhere.

The Lost World Zone

From Ancient Egypt, we move into the age of dinosaurs at The Lost World. Jurassic Park fans will love this zone because it recreates the world of dinosaurs in a fun, immersive way. The first thing that catches your eye is the huge Jurassic Park-style entrance gate, just like the one from the original film.

Across from the entrance, you’ll find Discovery Food Court, designed to resemble the visitor center from the movie. If you need food, this is one of the main dining spots in the area. Outside, there are also giant T-Rex and Spinosaurus figures standing near dinosaur eggs, making it a fun photo stop.

Canopy Flyer

The first ride in this zone is Canopy Flyer, a soft suspended coaster that feels like a breezy mini flight over the Jurassic world. It is gentle enough for younger guests but still fun for adults who want a light thrill.

The concept is that we are flying above the land like winged dinosaurs hunting from the sky. The seats are arranged back-to-back for four riders, with your legs hanging freely. The ride climbs up and then glides around the zone, giving you elevated views of Jurassic Park. The turns create a light swinging sensation, just enough to make it fun without becoming scary.

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure ⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the must-ride adventure attractions in The Lost World is Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure. You board a circular raft with nine seats and float along the river to explore a dinosaur research facility. Of course, things quickly go wrong when the security system fails.

The story takes you through rushing water where escaped dinosaurs start appearing along the route, including Stegosaurus with a baby dinosaur and Parasaurolophus spraying water at guests. The atmosphere builds as the raft moves into a dark tunnel with warning sirens blaring. The fun of this ride is not only the dinosaur adventure, but also the suspense of whether you’ll get soaked.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

In terms of intensity, kids can ride it and adults can enjoy it, but the wetness level is pure luck. If you really don’t want to get wet, buy a poncho from the vending machine while queueing. If you’re willing to risk it, just go for it. On my latest ride, almost everyone else on the raft stayed mostly dry while I somehow got soaked on one side. Based on my own very unofficial water-ride experience, the middle seat in each row of three seems to have the best chance of staying relatively safe.

If you come off the ride drenched, there are Drying Pods outside where you can stand and dry yourself. Just note that the drying fee is quite high at S$5 (around US$4).

Far Far Away Zone

Next is Far Far Away, a fairy-tale kingdom inspired by Shrek. The moment you enter, you’ll see King Harold’s Castle rising more than 40 meters high in the distance. It is one of the park’s classic photo spots and a must-stop for anyone visiting USS. This zone also brings out familiar characters for Meet and Greets, including Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, and Puss in Boots.

Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey ⭐️⭐️

Most attractions in Far Far Away are cute and family-friendly, but the one I recommend queueing for is Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey. This is a suspended coaster based on the sword-fighting orange cat, and it is currently exclusive to Universal Studios Singapore.

The story takes us on an adventure with Puss in Boots and Kitty Softpaws as they try to steal the golden eggs from the giant’s castle at the top of the beanstalk to help the orphanage. The coaster slowly climbs up along the giant beanstalk, enters the castle, faces the huge mother goose guarding her eggs, and then sends us escaping back down the track.

Universal Studios Singapore: Everything You Need to Know (2026 Review)

In terms of intensity, this is light and enjoyable. It has enough speed to feel fun and breezy, but there are no huge drops or inversions. Compared with the intense coasters like Battlestar Galactica, this feels much more like a friendly family coaster.

In short, Puss In Boots’ Giant Journey is easygoing, fun, and charming. It’s a good choice for families, anyone who wants a lighter coaster, or fans of the boot-wearing orange cat himself.

Enchanted Airways

Another mini coaster in this zone is Enchanted Airways, where you ride on the back of Dragon, Donkey’s red dragon love interest, and fly over the forest of Far Far Away.

The ride itself is simple. You fly past cute fairy-tale characters hidden along the route, including the Three Little Pigs, the Big Bad Wolf, and Gingy the gingerbread man. The intensity is mild, but there are a few turns and light forces that make it fun enough. It is a good warm-up coaster for families and younger riders.

Shrek 4-D Adventure

Another highlight in this zone is Shrek 4-D Adventure, a 4D cinema experience located inside King Harold’s Castle. If you’ve been walking under the sun and want a cool indoor break with a fun show, this is a great stop.

The show continues the story of Shrek and Princess Fiona’s honeymoon. Things go wrong when Lord Farquaad’s ghost returns and kidnaps Fiona. We then join Shrek and Donkey on an adventure to rescue her.

The fun is that this is not just a regular 3D film. The 4D effects are very active. When the characters ride a horse, the seat shakes and bumps along. When someone sneezes or falls into water, you feel water spray on your face. There are wind effects and even creepy little effects around your legs that get the whole theater reacting. Overall, it is a fun family-friendly show with that chaotic Shrek humor, and it also doubles as a very good air-conditioned break.

Stay Until Closing for the Best Night Photos

If you love taking photos and want the night version of Universal Studios Singapore, I highly recommend staying until closing time. New York and Hollywood are especially beautiful after dark. Once the sky gets dim, the neon lights, shopfronts, and restaurant signs switch on, and the whole area feels much more cinematic.

Spots like Big Bird’s Emporium and the theater signs look even more charming with the lights on. Along the streets, there are also plenty of neon signs where you can take cool portraits. The mood feels international, almost as if you are walking through a movie-set version of New York rather than Singapore. If you stay until evening, you’ll definitely go home with a very different set of photos from the daytime shots.

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) Summary

Universal Studios Singapore (USS) is one of the easiest world-class Universal theme parks for Southeast Asian travelers to visit, and I personally have been back many times. Even though the park is not as massive as some Universal parks in other countries, every visit still feels fun and exciting, almost like stepping into different movie and animation worlds in one day. With the new Minion Land now adding even more color and chaos to the park, USS feels even more worth revisiting.

If you love Universal films or theme parks in general, this is definitely a park to visit. If your goal is to follow this review and cover all the highlights, I recommend getting a Universal Express Pass so you can enjoy the day without spending too much time in queues. But if you are not trying to ride everything, and simply want to walk around, soak up the atmosphere, take photos, and enjoy a few rides casually, USS is still easy to enjoy with a partner, friends, or family. There really is something here for every age and travel style.

After reading this updated review, I hope it helps you plan your own USS day more easily. If you end up visiting, I’d love to know which zone or ride becomes your favorite.
